What Does “BSF” Mean in Online Text?

Internet slang is extremely popular, and new words are coming out every day to describe people, places, and things. One of these slang words is “BSF”. What exactly does BSF mean, and how do you use it?

BSF is internet slang meaning “best friend”. The “bs” comes from best, and the “f” comes from friend. It’s used by teenagers online, and it can be used in a variety of ways.

One way is to describe your best friend, i.e. “this is my BSF”. Another way is to let the person you’re talking to know that you’re about to speak about your best friend.

The rest of this article will cover what BSF means, and how to use it.

What Does “BSF” Mean

BSF most prominently is used as a slang word. It’s the shortened version of “best friend”, and teenagers are the ones who came up with it. There are two other definitions of the word, but you’ll see it used as “best friend” most of the time.

The two other meanings are as follows: “best sister friend” and “but seriously folks”. Best sister friend is exactly like “best friend”, and “but seriously folks” is a way to let the people you’re texting know you’re about to get serious.

If you want to know how to tell the meanings apart, all you have to do is look at the context. The context will tell you which way they’re using it.

How To Use “BSF”

The first obstacle with slang is knowing what it means, then the second obstacle is knowing how to use it. The good news is that you can use BSF in the same way you would use the words “best friend”. All you have to do is replace “best friend” with “BSF”.

For example, let’s take a look at a few sentences. Here’s one using the words “best friend”: “Samantha is my best friend”. Instead of spelling out best friend, you can use this instead: “Samantha is my BSF”.

Since this is used over text, it’s easier to type out. Of course, in person, you’d simply say “best friend”. However, when you’re typing online, it’s faster and easier to type out three letters instead of ten.

Although BSF is typically capitalized, since it’s internet slang, no one will care or notice if you simply say “bsf”. It doesn’t matter if you capitalize it or not, seeing as who you’re texting will know what it means regardless.
